ÖCALAN BOOK DAY: WAR AND PEACE - Thinking Peace Beyond War and “Peace Games”

In the context of the call for Öcalan’s book day we will be reading short passages from his books Sociology of Freedom and Beyond State, Power, and Violence. We will focus on the conceptualisation of the term “peace” and through the discussion try to deepen our understanding of peace as self-defence and radical justice for society.
See the reading material included below. To prepare for the collective reading we ask you read the pages beforehand. We will read and debate in English with possible self-organised translations from/into Slovene

This Infokafana is prepared in the context of the international initiative Öcalan Book Day 2025, which is part of the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan campaign. As part of the initiative, various events will be held around the world, the purpose of which is to draw attention to the extreme and inhuman conditions in which the leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party Abdullah Öcalan is being held imprisoned on the Turkish island of Imrali since 1999. The purpose of the initiative is also to demand his release and, through the reading of his texts and discussion of his ideas, to break the isolation into which he is being pushed by the Turkish state in prison.
With the event, the local anti-authoritarian movement continues its dialogue with the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the building of a strategic alliance against the dominant system on a global level.
ÖCALANOV DAN KNJIGE: VOJNA IN MIR - Misliti mir onkraj vojne in "Iger miru"
V soboto, 5. aprila ob 20:00 v A-infoshopu, AKCMM
V okviru poziva k Öcalanovemu dnevu knjige bomo brali odlomke iz njegovih knjig Sociologija svobode in Onkraj države, moči in nasilja. Osredotočili se bomo na konceptualizacijo »miru« in skozi razpravo poskušali poglobiti naše razumevanje miru kot samoobrambe in radikalne pravičnosti za družbo.
Za pripravo na skupinsko branje vas prosimo, da strani predhodno preberete spodaj priloženo gradivo. Brali in debatirali bomo v angleščini, seveda z možnostjo samoorganiziranih prevodov v/iz slovenščine.

Tokratna Infokafana je pripravljena v kontekstu mednarodne pobude Öcalan Book Day 2025, ki je del kampanje Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan. V sklopu pobude bodo po vsem svetu potekali različni dogodki, katerih namen je opozoriti na ekstremne in nečloveške pogoje, v katerih je od leta 1999 na turškem otoku Imrali zaprt voditelj Delavske stranke Kurdistana Abdullah Öcalan. Prav tako je namen pobude zahtevati njegovo osvoboditev in skozi branje njegovih tekstov in diskusijo o njegovih idejah prekiniti izolacijo, v katero je v zaporu potisnjen s strani turške države.
Z dogodkom lokalno antiavtoritarno gibanje nadaljuje dialog z Gibanjem svobode Kurdistana ter gradnjo strateškega zavezništva proti dominantnemu sistemu na globalni ravni.
